The Venue

Located in the foothills of Monte Minerva, a rustic hunting lodge and former countryside retreat of the Earl of Minerva, it is set amid a beautiful natural reserve. The lodge and former stables have been sympathetically restored to offer a high standard of comfort and hospitality whilst maintaining its original, aristocratic exterior. The peacefulness and tranquillity of this location, together with its captivating views, make painting here both relaxing and inspiring.

Palazzo MinervaRed flowersThe Palazzo offers large comfortable en‑suite rooms, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The garden provides shade from the midday sun and quiet spots in which to paint, relax or read a good book. This peaceful, picturesque environment makes a thoroughly unique holiday experience for painters and non‑painters alike.

The Hotel

FennelMealThe covered terrace restaurant offers its guests a taste of traditional regional dishes and a fine selection of local wines. Meals are an integral part of our holidays, sometimes made all the more lively by locals' impromptu singing and dancing. All meals are included in the price and our dinners are served with wine. On trip days lunches are either bountiful picnics eaten at painting locations or are arranged for you at nearby local restaurants, offering you a chance to enjoy friendly Sardinian hospitality and sample local specialities, such as spaghetti alla bottarga, or orate al tomo, fish dishes typical of Aighero.

The Painting

In addition to painting in and around the natural reserve, nearby Lake Temo, and in the charming hilltop village of Monteleone Roccadoria, we will also go on painting trips (Click here for itinerary) to Bosa, a picturesque fishing town dominated by the medieval castle of Malaspina; to the lovely, white sandy beach of Le Bombarde with its inviting crystal clear water; to Aighero, a uniquely Spanish influenced harbour town, with its imposing towers and bastion walls from where we will enjoy spectacular views across the Bay ‑ all beautiful places to set up our easels and paint. Every day will be different, and though the emphasis will be on painting we will also visit places of interest locally.
